The Connected Digital Home

A connected digital home is one where consumer devices are networked and interoperate to provide features and services that are not otherwise possible. For video and audio entertainment this, for example, means the ability to watch programs or listen to music in any room in the home by seamlessly moving content between PC systems, TV systems, mobile devices, service provider systems or outside the home over the internet. A wide range of home automation applications also exist such as lighting that can be quickly adjusted to reflect your mood or, in the kitchen, recipes automatically provided based on the contents of your fridge. Within medical and fitness services the opportunities are also broad, for example in monitoring patients from their home and personalization of treatment.
